Ir. M.P.J. Aarts, Chair

Marielle Aarts

Mariëlle Aarts is assistent professor Light and Lighting at the Building Physics and Systems group of the Eindhoven University of Technology. Her knowledge and interest is the combination between light, people and the built environment.

 

Drs. J.C.D.M. Stark, Secretary

Anja Stark

Anja Stark studied medicine at the Catholic University of Nijmegen. She received her medical degree in 1989. Anja specialized in Occupational Health, in the subject of Insurance Medicine, at the NSPOH (Netherlands School of Public & Occupational Health) in Utrecht. She finished her specialization in 1998. Anja works as a doctor at UWV (Employee Insurance Agency), where she is engaged in the assessment of work disability in the ZW-ARBO (Sickness benefits Act) and WIA (Work and Income Act). She developed a special interest for light when she partially participated in a research on the effect of light therapy on the sick leave duration of employees with a burnout.

 

Dr. Leon van Rijswijk, Treasurer

Laura Huiberts

Laura Huiberts is a PhD candidate at Eindhoven University of Technology in the Human-Technology Interaction group. The focus of her research project is on optimizing light exposure patterns during the day so that people can feel maximally alert and vital, leading to optimal daytime functioning. At the end of 2016, she won the SOLG grant with which a study will be conducted to test the attractiveness and effectiveness of a coaching app with gamification elements that can help adolescents creating awareness about effects of light exposure and motivate them to adopt behavior strategies towards more healthy light exposure in order to feel more vital and alert during the day, and sleep better during the night.

 

 

Dr. Y. Meesters, Chair scientific consultancy board

Head if the department Chronobiology, University of Groningen. He performs, together with the other members of his research group, research on the sleep/wake cycle, the biological clock and the influence of light on these phenomena. The department posesses a "time-free room" for the research with subjects. In this room sleep research is performed without the subjects knowing the time of day.

Ton Begemann

Ton Begemann is emeritus professor practical lighting at the TU Eindhoven, retired Senior Vice-President at Philips Lighting, Eindhoven. He is working in the field of research of light and health for more than 15 years.

 

Ir. H.A. Bouma

Hessel Bouma

Hessel Bouma is director of Spur Management BV and also holds various supervising and administrative positions. Until 2008 he was working for Philips as General Manager Vitality Care and Senior Director Consumer Healthcare Solutions. Hessel Bouma is one of the founders of SOLG and managed for a long time the development of innovative "light & health" concepts, like the Philips EnergyLight, the Innergize and the Wake-up Light.

Wouter van Bommel

Wout van Bommel has worked for Philips Lighting until 2009. He is visiting professor for lighting at Fudan University in Shanghai, China and independant lighting consultant (van Bommel Lighting Consultant). Wout van Bommel is working in lighting for over 30 years and for more than 10 years on the subject of light and health.
